All RK Timbers’ solid timber flooring products are sourced from sustainable, well-managed forests, expertly conditioned for New Zealand environments. Using advanced processing machinery, we ensure the highest quality profiling.
A solid timber floor is a lasting investment, offering natural beauty, warmth, and easy maintenance. Its durability ensures it remains stunning for years. Unlike other flooring, which wears over time, hardwood floors gain character and can be re-finished multiple times, increasing their value.
Types of solid timber flooring
Solid strip tongue & groove flooring
This 19-21mm structural timber flooring is fixed to subfloors, joists, or concrete slabs, offering strength, durability, and character. It can be sanded and refinished for longevity. RK Timbers supplies secret nail profiles for secure fixing. Available in various widths (65-220mm), it can also be end-matched for easier installation.
Tongue & groove overlay flooring
Tongue and groove overlay flooring offers the beauty of solid hardwood at a lower cost. Available in various timber species, it is designed to overlay concrete or existing timber, plywood, or particleboard floors. Typically 13mm thick, it provides a durable and stylish flooring solution.
Parquetry
RK Timbers manufactures custom parquetry in-house, offering block and finger parquet flooring. Block parquet is typically 19mm thick, with common sizes of 260x65mm and 340x85mm, though thinner options are available. Finger parquet tiles and other profiles can be made upon request.

Floor coating finishes
Site-sanded flooring can be finished with oils, hard wax oils, or solvent- and water-based polyurethanes. Oils offer a natural look, while polyurethanes provide greater durability in various gloss levels. Popular options in New Zealand include Rubio Monocoat Oil and Handley Industries' Polyurethanes, chosen based on location and climate.
